Another Perfect Week on the Pembrokeshire Coast
Last year I walked half of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Marloes to St Dogmaels with my mum. We loved it so much we went back to finish it this year. Amroth to Manorbier Our first day back on the coast path treated us to some varied terrain. We arrived in Amroth to the relaxing sound of waves over pebbles. The beach here gave me 1920’s vibes and I could almost see Dick Van Dyke in his striped one piece swimsuit about to enter the water. As it was high tide we left Dick Van Dyke and the beach and followed the clifftop woodland paths spying coves through the trees until we returned to the picture postcard town of Tenby with its rows of colourful buildings sandwiched between two large expanses of beach. The first beach we arrived at was a large inviting sheltered cove where last night’s swim event took place. I of course stopped to have my first swim of the holiday. After my swim we walked past the colourful houses and the marina before dropping down to Tenby’s second large expanse of beach overlooked by an impressive castle and city walls. The long expanse of beach took…

Walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path with my Mum
This year I fancied something different. I have previously walked the Cotswold Way and Dales High Way so this time I was drawn to a walk by the sea. I therefore chose to walk the second half of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path from Marloes to St Dogmaels. After my friend Hana sadly had to drop out due to long covid my mum kindly said she would be keen to join me and within no time it was already time for our trip. Marloes and Skomer Island Our first day on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path was booked as a rest day as I wanted to visit the puffins on Skomer Island. A real must do activity! We dropped our car in St Dogmaels at the end of our route and opted to get a taxi to take us to Marloes to begin our rest day. Paul from Jones Coastal Taxis drove us and chatted to us about the area and wildlife. I’m not normally known for restful days so with that in mind I decided it would be great to walk Marloes Peninsula as well that day. We started the peninsula walk on the south side passing some beautiful beaches, coves…

The Dales High Way – An Absolute Corker!
What a route! I can truly say hand on heart that the Dales High Way was an absolute corker. 94 miles following the glorious high ground over the West Yorkshire Moors, the Dales limestone country and the Howgills Fells. Saltaire to Skipton The route starts in Saltaire and we were so eager to start we opted for an evening walk before we started our journey. Although so close to a busy urban area, Saltaire itself has a maze of woodland and canal paths along with an extremely pretty nature reserve/public garden. All of this beautiful open space is exactly why Saltaire was built. Titus Salt a manufacturer, politician and philanthropist in Bradford wanted a better place for his workforce, to get them out of the slums of Bradford, and thus Saltaire was born. Along with the Salt Mill Titus Salt also made his wealth from the weaving industry and produced a durable cloth from alpaca and silk. You can find a bronze alpaca sculpture in the park to celebrate this. Myself and my friend Hana had opted to walk the route in 6 days so our first day will be from Saltaire to Skipton (just shy of 19 miles and…
