Self-guided walking trip along the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne. We chose to complete the route in 9 days but other durations were available with Mickledore. The Mickledore booking process was very easy. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent with friendly, helpful hosts and very good breakfasts. There were very good options nearby for evening meals if the place we were staying didn’t have that option. The route was very well signposted and easy to follow. The guidebook provided by Mickledore was excellent. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there is a fair amount of uphill/downhill along the way, especially when you have to leave the trail to get to your accommodation. At various points the route could be seen well into the distance so there was a real sense of achievement when our self-appointed landmarks were met. We would recommend this trip through Mickledore as it was very well organised, had lovely places to stay and wonderful ever-changing scenery along the way.

There was extensive information on the Mickledore website about the trip. The booking process was very easy. Once confirmed the holiday pack arrived quickly by post. It contained detailed information about all of the places we would be staying, local information about places to eat/emergency contact info etc as well as a detailed guide book and map. The guide book was excellent and included detailed maps for each section of the route. All of the hotels/B&B’s were excellent and our luggage was transferred for us seamlessly between them. We’re already thinking about our next trip with Mickledore.

We have walked the John Muir Way via Mickledore. The only thing you need to do is walk with a daypack. It’s a very beautiful route with lots of diversity in nature. Every place we have stayed has had its unique features. And the restaurants/ pubs had great food and nice drinks. The people we have met were very friendly and welcoming.

Mickledore has the best experience / knowledge of all the walking holidays they offer. They know the B&B / hotel / guesthouse owners and these people know Mickledore. Just mention Mickledore and it’s fine.
Everything is arranged from route maps, where to find restaurants/ pubs/ banks/ shops/ post office/ doctors. The official route with book and the route to your local destination. A taxi to collect you from the trail or to the trail, if the B&B is not nearby the route.
And Mickledore will arrange transportation for the bags to your next location.
So a carefree holiday for us, so we can enjoy our walks the fullest. And the helpdesk of Mickledore (if needed), is just a phone call away.

We walked Hadrian’s Wall Path with Mickledore Travel, and had a wonderful time. We especially liked being able to add the option of daily packed lunches (most travel companies don’t). This meant we didn’t have to think about finding somewhere enroute, and could eat at our convenience, especially as options very limited in places. Hadrian’s Wall Path, for us, was a unique and very special walk due to the history.

We would recommend walking the Dingle Way. Good way marking, great views and a warm welcome. Easy to get to the start from Kerry airport. We have used Mickledore before and yet again they didn’t disappoint. All the travel information is clear and they are always on hand to help if needed.
