Self-guided walking for 8 days on the South West Coast path from Minehead to Westward Ho, about 90 miles. The weather was glorious, sunny but not too hot (which helped) and the coastal scenery was spectacular, undulating for the first few days, then flattening out.

Company rating

Essentially Mickeldore are an agent that organise accommodation and luggage plus an occaional taxi tranafer if you are staying away from the trail. They also supply the necessary route documentation. They are are very efficient in all these aspects and communicate well. Clearly one could organise this all oneself, but in practice this would be a nightmare where accommodation is in short supply and possibly not much cheaper (if at all).

We did a 50 mile walk from Penzance to Falmouth staying in (mostly) traditional B’n’B places. Our luggage was transported each day by a courier firm leaving us to walk with just a day pack. The accommodation was excellent at every stop with very friendly and helpful staff at each location.

Great support with loads of information about the route (including a Harvey’s map and Coastal Walk book), the places we were staying in and places to eat, both on route and in the evenings. Lots of good advice and tips. Good provision of help/emergency numbers for any problems (not needed by us, fortunately).

Holiday rating

4 days walking around the coast of Guernsey. Marvelous views along the cliff paths, along with a LOT of stairs on the southeast and south coasts. Some amazing beaches, huge tides and interesting dunes. Lots of history, both ancient and more recent. Good accommodation and good recommendations for where to eat.

I have been on a couple of different Mickledore self-guided walking trips. Mickledore provides excellent information on their website and in their tour packages, arranges accommodation that suits my needs, is responsive to questions and requests to personalize the trip.

Our 5th trip with you – always 10/10!

We walked another section of the SW Coastal Path, from St Ives to Coverack, supported as always by the reliable and wonderful Mickledore! Superb scenery, sunshine on tap, great accommodation and delicious food mostly fish and other local Cornish produce. So many iconic locations on this part of the path – St Michael’s Mount, Mousehole, The Lizard and Land’s End. Highly recommended (but the walking is tough!).
