Duration: 7 days/ 8 nights. Walks took us thru farmlands and fields and small towns. We found that all walks were easy, there were no steep ascents. We had time watching the sheep that also kept an eye on us while invading their territory! The walk along the Tweed River was peaceful and pleasant, a few anglers were teasing the salmon trouts.
The landscape was beautiful, hills at a far distance. The medieval Abbeys were stunning,. We did walk to Abbotsford and enjoyed the tour. The weather was perfect and we had no rain.
We were pleased by the accommodations, the size of the rooms, the hosts, the breakfasts and the locations of the hotels.Mickledore is an excellent operator., this was our 3rd self-guided walk with Mickledore.
We always received prompt replies to our numerous queries. everyone is courteous, professional and ready to modify the itinerary if we presented them with specific demands. The information provided in the packet is useful and very detailed: with links to restaurants, to hotels, maps, shops, cafés, etc.
Their website is fantastic, easy to use and contains useful and necessary information on the available various walks, along with travel info, summary of the route, level of difficulty,, etc.
We like the options of choosing different lengths of walks based on the distance we want to cover every day.
All taxi and luggage transfers were on time, which was also the case during our two previous walks booked with Mickledore.
We would not hesitate to recommend this operator.
