UK walking holidays from Mickledore Travel

cycling couple

We have a choice of 3 UK cycling routes (each with many variations) for 2008. All based on established cross country routes between the Cumbrian and north eastern coasts. You can combine any 3 routes to make a round trip - coast to coast and back again!

All the routes are comprehensively waymarked and use cycleways, old railway tracks and green lanes to avoid the busier roads.

Self Guided Cycling Holidays
All of our holidays are self guided. We provide you with a detailed route description and/or guidebook, together with the maps for the area and you do the cycling unaccompanied, at your own pace. All the accommodation will be booked ahead by us and we can transport your luggage to your next night's accommodation.

Inbuilt flexibility
Our holidays are designed to be flexible and can be tailored to suit your requirements. If you're looking for something different, or extra, from our holidays described here, give us a ring and we'll do our best to please! You can start on any day you like and we can arrange extra nights at any of the overnight stops allowing for rest days, or giving you more time to explore the locality. You can book part of a route if you don't have the time to complete the entire distance.

  Reivers Route North England

This 187 mile cycle route encompasses the north of England from Tynemouth, on the North sea, to Whitehaven on the Irish sea. It encapsulates Northumberland, northern Cumbria and briefly crosses the Scottish border.

The route passes alongside the shores of Kielder water, England's largest lake and through the heart of Kielder Forest Park, before making its way through the historic border city of Carlisle and through the northern fringes of the Lake District.

  Hadrian's Wall Cycleway Northern England
The route strarts at the old roman port of Ravenglass on the west coast where you will cycle along the coastline before turning inland at Bowness-on-Solway to follow the line of Hadrian's Wall. Between Brampton and Corbridge much of the wall remains and it is worth taking your time to view the many forts and museums in the area and to walk along some of the most spectacular sections of the wall. The ride then follows the river Tyne to the finish in South Shields on the east coast.
