Vale of Lorton

This is our kindest holiday in one of the quietest areas of the Lake District National Park. It is based around the peaceful lakes of Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere in the North West corner of the Lake District, and uses well defined paths, forestry tracks and country lanes.

The distances covered each day are relatively short with the exception of one mountain pass involving an easy climb of 200 metres. The route generally keeps to relatively flat valley bottoms and there is plenty of time to take it easy, enjoy some spectacular scenery and soak up the tranquility.

Client Feedback

By my reckoning, there have been nine walking holidays so far.  Earlier this year I completed the latest one.  The Pennine Way in celebration of my 70th birthday.  On this, as with all my other walks, I found the arrangements to be faultless.  This is why I keep returning to Mickledore.  It means that I can start each walk with complete confidence that the only thing that could go wrong is me!  My thanks to all at Mickledore!

We have been on many walking holidays and have always used Mickledore. They are easily contactable. Provide superb information and only book good B&Bs, which they check regularly. What we like most is that they themselves do the walks, so they know exactly what they are like.

Mickledore provided us with all the information we needed prior to and during our trip. You gave us a realistic view of what to expect and provided us with everything we needed for our hiking experience to go as smoothly as possible. This was our first long distance hiking trip as well as a trip of a lifetime. Thank you for making it a memorable one!
