We have graded all our walking holidays with the boot symbol, so you can easily compare the difficulty of each holiday.


Maximum of 10- 12 miles per day, and an average of 4- 6. Mostly rolling countryside, and on well defined paths, but with some sections in more mountainous terrain. There may be some bigger climbs, up to 250m, but not on every day. For self – guided holidays, you need to be able to navigate from a map.

 

Maximum of 15 – 18 miles a For self – guided holidays For self – guided holidays day and an average of 10 –15 . These holidays typically cross more remote mountain and moorland terrain for more than one day, with climbs of up to1000m. Whilst most of the route follows well defined paths, there may be sections where the path is indistinct – so for self guided holidays the ability to navigate with map and compass is therefore necessary.

 

Maximum 20 miles, a day and an average of 12- 16. Much of the route will be over remote mountains and moorland, and there will be sections of rough or boggy ground and indistinct paths. Map and compass competence essential.

 

Similar to 4, but nearly every day will involve climbs of up to 1200m, with most of your time spent in mountainous terrain. You will need to be an experienced and fit walker e holidays. confident in the mountains in poor weather, to undertake these holidays. Again, map and compass competence essential.
