The Vale of Lorton uses well defined and maintained paths, tracks and country lanes over nearly all its route. There is just one significant ascent between Buttermere and Newlands of about 220m (650ft). The rest of the route is reasonably low-lying and rolling and the distances each day are modest.
You may be lucky enough to encounter warm, dry weather over the whole route. But it is important you carry waterproofs and are able to navigate, as both the paths and the weather can change very quickly.
